Terry Dugan

TERRY DUGAN.

Terry Dugan is a highly accomplished executive with an extensive and successful career spanning four decades in the HVAC and building solutions industry while working at the same company, Trane Technologies and its predecessor, Ingersoll Rand. His career is characterized by significant leadership roles, driving substantial growth, and spearheading strategic initiatives across North America and globally while meeting the needs of a national customer base which included building and facility owners (ODR), MEP contractors and construction engineers, etc. Today, Mr. Dugan consults with small and medium-sized HVAC companies on their growth strategies, as well
as PE firms and investment banking boutiques who have a particular interest in the HVAC manufacturing, mechanical systems, and building services sectors.
In February 2024, Mr. Dugan felt it was time to retire. He was asked to stay on for six months to mentor and support his successor while advising and helping the company’s newly appointed head of corporate strategy get up to speed on Trane’s acquisition initiatives, past and present.

For example, over the past nine years, Mr. Dugan originated and executed a number of successful channel (independent rep offices) acquisitions which the new head of corporate strategy had limited experience with. So, from February 2024 until he retired in August 2024, Mr. Dugan served as Vice President of Business Development for M&A (within the corporate strategy group). Previously, Mr. Dugan served as Vice President and North America Commercial Business Leader for Trane from January 2020 to February 2024. In this capacity, he led sales and operations across the U.S. and Canada, managing a substantial $7B+ P&L and a team of over 8,000+ associates. He
oversaw a wide range of critical business areas including HVAC equipment, mechanical service, controls and automation, rental services, digital services, and performance-based contracting.
