Components of our energy solutions include:
Energy audit. We first assess building systems to determine if they are operating in the way the engineering design intended. We then help the building owner improve building performance through service and maintenance. New equipment won’t save money or energy unless it is operated and maintained properly. An energy audit is a great first step in understanding the current state of a building's energy performance.
Energy contracting and pricing. We review utility contracts and invoices to make sure our clients are charged according to the most competitive rate structure. Nearly 1/3 of all the bills we examine contain some sort of error, resulting in the customer paying a higher than market rate.
Energy rebates & incentives. We work with the building owner to identify rebates and incentives available from utility companies and municipal, state and federal agencies that could lower energy and operating costs.
Energy utilization & consumption. We then review how the customer utilizes energy in their building. We’ll evaluate equipment in terms of age, energy efficiency, operations & maintenance records and building automation & controls.
Energy optimization. Our certified energy specialists conduct in-depth analyses on building operations and prepare a project-specific energy strategy designed to optimize energy and operating costs.
Energy alternatives. For interested building owners, we explore alternatives to fossil-fuel-based energy solutions. One example is Zero Net Energy buildings that, through solar photovoltaics & wind power, generate as much electrical power on-site as they consume - fully offsetting energy costs by feeding power back into the grid.
Today, building code combined with best-practice architecture and engineering generally deliver buildings that meet U.S. Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver level with no material cost premium. Zero Net Energy and Zero Carbon initiatives surpass LEED goals and help deliver energy neutral projects.
