Turnkey Equipment Replacement
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In April 2024, HCA’s Research Medical Center partnered with our national healthcare team to address the challenges of their aging mechanical infrastructure. The campus includes roughly 80 air handling units, each requiring either a retrofit or complete replacement.
Our Role:
Our team of engineers are systematically assessing each air handling unit, evaluating its condition, and recommending tailored solutions for replacement. These recommendations include criteria design, scope, budget, and schedule. Our team will then execute a turnkey replacement for each unit, a phased process projected to take several years to complete.
Project Success and Impact:
While the project is ongoing, early success can be seen through our work on air handling units 43 and 44. Based on our findings, we designed a solution to consolidate these into a single, high-efficiency unit. This approach not only mitigated safety risks but also generated substantial energy and operational savings. The advanced controls of the new unit, along with the option for future conversion to a variable air volume (VAV) system, are estimated to save at least $31,400 annually in energy and maintenance costs.
Our approach as a single-source partner—assessing the entire mechanical infrastructure, identifying deficiencies, designing the solution, and overseeing implementation—ensures the proposed solutions are aligned with the client safety and operational goals, while minimizing downtime and improving overall system performance.
