Hearts and Hands: A Year of Giving Back and Making a Difference

At Limbach, we believe in the power of giving, and this year, our Hearts and Hands Employee Resource Group (ERG) took that belief to new heights. With over 200 volunteers and 13 organizations impacted, this group has become a driving force for positive change. The Hearts and Hands group is on a mission to provide opportunities and encourage our employees to make a difference by giving back to our local communities, embodying Limbach’s We Care culture. To learn more about our commitment to DEIB and our other ERGs, visit our Embrace page on our company website.

Hearts & Hands Co-Chair leader Michelle Sanford shares her passion for being an example and encouraging others to be selfless in volunteering and serving others. “I want to encourage others to understand that being part of a community and helping others leads to a feeling of belonging and fosters a sense of teamwork,” Michelle adds.

Standing alongside Michelle is Hearts & Hands Co-Chair Jessica Samuels, who shares her passion for giving back. Growing up in a family deeply involved in community activities, Jessica learned early on the impact of small gestures. Joining Limbach reinforced her belief in the core value of “We Care,” extending beyond the workplace. With Hearts and Hands, she created a space for individuals like herself to support and give back in collaboration.

One Warm Coat Drive: Spreading Warmth Across Communities

Hearts and Hands kicked off with a company-wide initiative – the One Warm Coat Drive. From September through October, our employees rallied together, collecting an impressive 256 coats and raising $2,395. This effort aimed to bring warmth to communities nationwide, symbolizing the generosity that defines Limbach.

Cleaning Up for Malden: New England Team’s Trash Pickup

Our New England team organized a City of Malden trash pickup in the spirit of community care. Employees from the office and field gathered to make a positive impact, displaying our commitment to the places where we live and work.

Feeding Tampa Bay: A Local Response to Food Insecurity

Recognizing the pressing issue of food security, our Tampa team, led by Chief People, Culture, and Marketing Officer Melissa DiMuro and Chief Financial Officer Jayme Brooks, joined forces with Feeding Tampa Bay to give back to the local Tampa community. Within four hours, our team hit a new record and assembled over 1,000 food boxes to provide to those affected in the area by Hurricane Idalia. After grinding it out at the Feeding Tampa Bay warehouse, the Tampa team got into action and organized a successful food drive. With contributions from everyone in the office, Limbach was able to donate just under 100 lbs of food, providing 82 meals for those in need. Melissa DiMuro was seen on Bay News 9, shedding light on the organization’s efforts and emphasizing the importance of unified action. EMBRACE On the Road: Leading DEIB Initiatives In and Out of the Office

Limbach’s DEIB Forum “Embrace” launched our first annual “EMBRACE On the Road” initiative to align our EMBRACE DEIB mission with our trade partners, customers, and surrounding communities.

Our winning submissions ranged from creating a Diversity Committee within the local #189 union to partnering with local community organizations to help perform necessary maintenance to their facilities, such as building a safe wheelchair ramp, to partnering with local high schools to bring more awareness to careers within the construction industry. A huge congratulations to our winning teams, including: Harper Tampa, Harper Orlando, Limbach Mid-Atlantic, Western Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Looking Ahead

Our Hearts & Hands members are empowered to share organizations they are passionate about. Jessica emphasizes the importance of building indispensable relationships with these organizations, ensuring a trusted and supported partnership for those in need. “We do not have a specific number, but our goal is to share our hearts and hands with as many organizations as we can,” Jessica explains. If you are a Limbach Company employee and would like to give your hearts and hands to those in need, please contact Michelle Sanford or Jessica Samuels to join! Check out our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion page to gain more insight into our Embrace forum and other ERGs. Together, our hearts and hands can make a lasting difference.
